How the data valuation calculator works

Our free calculator estimates an indicative licence range using three inputs: full-time employees, annual revenue and year founded. It runs in your browser. It does not inspect your business records or produce a buyer offer.

The calculation

The lower estimate is a revenue base multiplied by an employee factor and a business-age factor. The upper estimate is the unrounded lower estimate multiplied by 1.43. Each bound is then rounded independently to the nearest $500.

Revenue base used in the estimate
Annual revenueBase
Pre-revenue$12,000
$0–1M$20,000
$1–10M$29,000
$10–50M$55,000
$50–200M$95,000
$200M+$150,000
Undisclosed$29,000

Employee factors run from 0.8 at one employee to 1.8 at 1,000 employees. Business-age factors run from 0.4 for a newly founded business to 1.6 at 50 years. Intermediate values are interpolated and both factors are capped at their endpoints.

An example

In 2026, a company with 24 employees, $1–10M annual revenue and a 2015 founding year receives a range of $30,500–$44,000. The current model’s maximum range is $432,000–$618,000. These are outputs of the model, not evidence of completed transactions.

What happens with missing answers?

Until all three business questions are completed, the result is labelled “Example estimate.” Missing employee count defaults to 24, missing founding year to 10 years in business, and missing revenue to the undisclosed base. Industry and selected software systems help prepare the conversation but do not change the calculation.

Where do calculator answers go?

Changing the calculator does not submit a lead. When you complete the booking enquiry, your calculator answers and contact details are sent together to our enquiry service. The next step opens James’s personal Cal.com page to choose a time. Read our privacy notice.
